In my eight years of photographing weddings, I’ve seen weddings of all kinds. My vast range of experiences has truly shown me that each and every wedding is unique. Some weddings are a big production of vendors and bridal parties and moms who can’t seem to be satisfied with the work of the hairdresser. Some weddings are small and quiet and crafted carefully by the hands of those in attendance. Patrick and Katherine’s wedding at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville felt unlike any wedding I’d photographed before: it was large in guest count but somehow managed to be small and intimate in feeling. Often larger weddings pack with them crowded schedules, overbearing personalities, and extra doses of stress, but this wedding was full of quiet moments, sweet interactions, and personal touches all set under the constantly-changing big sky of Eastern North Carolina.
A huge thank you Katherine, Patrick and their families for allowing us to be a part of this wedding and helping me fulfill a longstanding dream to shoot at the historic Grove Park Inn. Here are a few of my favorites from their big day.
